Barbara Joan Earnest Reed, age 91 of Cambridge passed away on April 22, 2023 at Cambridge Place. She was born on February 6, 1932 in Wadsworth, Ohio to the late Percy "Jack" and Edith "Dayle" (Lightfoot) Bissell. She is also preceded in death by her first husband Raymond Earnest whom she married on July 14, 1950 and he died on September 8, 1968 and her second husband Dr. Richard Reed whom she married on October 6, 1971 and he died on April 27, 1984 and a great grandchild Caydin Pollock-Hibbs. She worked as a bookkeeper, tree farmer, and a veterinarian technician. She was a member of the 49er's, Welcome Wagon, Rotary, Heather 'N' Thistle in Columbus, Ohio, Scottish Country Dancers, Muskingum Valley Christmas Tree Growers, and Bridge Club. Joan's work ethic was an inspiration to her family. From picking berries to sell as a young child to helping to maintain her beloved farm into her 80's and all the days in between; she worked hard! She loved being a mom, grandmother and great grandmother. In fact she loved it when her friends and helpers at the Cambridge Place called her grandma. Seems like of all the things she was to various people throughout her life what she loved most was being a grandma. She enjoyed having the annual Easter egg hunt, family reunions, and Christmas at her home. Her Easter egg hunt was a great event, including grandchildren as well as adult children hiding eggs for the young in her huge yard, while the adults would have to hunt anywhere including the woods. Joan enjoyed deer hunting. dancing, playing cards and games with family, jet skiing, water skiing, mowing her yard, working on her farm, taking care of her cats and family get togethers. Joan is survived by her three daughters Lora (Tim) Driscoll of San Diego, California, Roxanne "Cookie" (George) Ephgrave of Cedar Park, Texas and Cynthia "Cindy" (Dave) Pollock of Cambridge, two sons Alan "Lanny" (Randi) Earnest of Cambridge and Todd (Terri) Earnest of Tallmadge, 9 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, cousin Carol Thoman and family, aunt Pauline Lightfoot and family and special friend Dr. Ronald Fleming's family. Graveside services and burial has taken place in Center Cemetery.
