JESSIE PAULINE PAYNE - BENTON
Jessie Pauline Payne, 84, of 208 Charles St., died at 6:55 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 1994, in Franklin Hospital.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Valier, with the Rev. Robert Dial officiating. A private family visitation will be held. Friends should go directly to the cemetery.
The Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home in Benton is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Payne was born July 25, 1909 in Franklin county, the daughter of Shelby and Ethel (Leffler) Woods. She married Lester Payne and he died Oct. 6, 1946.
Mrs. Payne was a retired seamstress, last having worked at Douglas Cleaners for many years. She was a member of the North Benton Baptist Church.
Survivors include one granddaughter, Carolyn Hammers, Murphysboro; one grandson, Mark Barnfield, Collinsville; one great-grandson, Ryan Gordon, Murphysboro; one sister, Marjorie Overturf, Benton; a nephew, Ed Overturf, West Frankfort; and a niece, Judy Tutt, Paducah, Ky. Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daughter, Jesse Jeanine Barnfield.
