Olan Burton Criswell, who moved to Merced in the late 1930's, Died Thursday at Hylond Convalescent Hospital. He was 80.
Mr Criswell was born Oct 16, 1912 in Duke, Oklahoma, one of twelve children. The family moved to Dallas, Texas in 1933, after a few years, moved to Merced.
An avid fisherman and hunter, Mr Criswell fished in the surrounding lakes and often went to Monterey for deep sea fishing. He supported Merced City softball teams and car races.
He is survived by his wife, Floradine Criswell of Merced; two daughters, Betty Criswell Flores of Jackson and Verna Ruth Criswell of Portland Ore; a step daughter Edith Westmoreland of Merced, a step son David Hudson of Phoenix, Arizona; three sisters and a brother, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 am Tuesday at Stratford Evens Merced Funeral Home with family member Verna May Davis [sister] presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
