Bobby Dekoda Chrisawn was born into a life of hurt, instability and hopelessness. But God looked down and said" I have a plan". He placed him with a family that treasured him and loved him beyond measure, a very loving and supportive extended family and an awesome church family. Together he was taught love, compassion, sympathy, kindness but most of all taught him there is a God that loves him.
The DSS office evaluation of him was nothing short of a hopeless life. He was labeled to never bond, love, experience true friendship, in other words no emotion or have a normal life. That was their diagnosis. However, they weren't factoring in the fact that we serve a awesome and mighty God that can do anything, there is nothing too big for God.
GOD STEPPED IN! and gave him a loving, caring and compassionate heart. A personality full of fun and mischievousness. Lord help if you drag out a camera, he would find some way to do a photo bomb. He gave him a heart full of love for everyone around him. If you knew him you were lucky. He was never judgmental. He believed we all were Gods children. It didn't matter to him if you were rich, poor, clean or dirty, he treated you as a person. He had a contagious smile and a crooked grin that always gave him away. You knew when he was up to no good. He never loved a little it was always all in and hard. He could not watch a hallmark commercial without tearing up. Dekoda was so close to two of his cousins, they were almost joined at the hip. Samuel and John were his brothers from another mother. Samuel was his partner in crime. John was his game playing guru. The two of them were like two peas in a pod.
Dekoda had one true love in his life, Jennifer. They were together off and on from 2nd grade. On February 14, 2019 they got married. I have never seen him so happy. On December 6th of 2019 Jaxon Ray Chrisawn was born. I saw in Dekodas eyes that sense of pride like never before. He loved Jaxon so much and they played endlessly. After all, he was just a big kid himself.
I see a lot of Dekoda in Jaxon. Stubborn as the day is long. He is so compassionate to others.
Dekoda had been having a lot of things going on in his life that he just couldn't cope with. He tried bottling up his feelings. Not willing to deal with the negative things in his life, it became more than he could handle. Sometime between 2:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m., he decided to end his pain. He took an overdose amount of an over the counter sleep aid. He crossed his finish line at 2:30 a.m. Friday morning.
Almost immediately, people began reaching out. One friend in particular made a statement that God knew that Dekodas time was short so he put him with a family to love and teach him about God.
Dekoda was always concerned about others especially children and elderly people. He had a huge heart that he filled with compassion for his fellow man. He was a treasure. A big man, with big arms to hold you, a big heart to love you and a big smile to comfort you.
We have told you just a little bit about Dekoda and his story for a reason. Never be afraid to reach out. Never be embarrassed to let someone know "Hey I'm having some problems". Be it a friend, family or a health provider.
I always told Dekoda I never grew him under my heart. I grew him in my heart. And now, there is a hole there that somehow with Gods loving grace he will have to fill.
We have been contacted by so many people. Thank you for your support and prayers. We love you all.
