OBITUARY

MR. NEIL MACDONALD, OF SCOTSTOWN

Scotstown, Oct. 24. -- The funeral of Mr. Neil MacDonald, who passed away, after a brief illness, at his home here, on Monday, September 24, was held in St. Paul's Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, September 26. Rev. J. W. Smith, who conducted the service, spoke words of comfort to the bereaved and [unclear]ing tribute to the memory of the deceased, in that he was a man honoured, because he was honourable, he was trusted and loved, a kind husband, father, and brother, a good neighbor, a loyal member of the Presbyterian Church and who would be greatly missed by all with whom he had come in contact.

The text. "A time to be born, and a time to die" from Ecclesiastes III: 2. was the basis of the impressive address, showing that we live in a time of change, a continual ebbing and flowing, waxing and waning, and stressing that the life that one lives on earth, determines the life hereafter.

With Mrs. Arnold MacKenzie, as organist, the congregational hymns sung were "The Lord Is My Shepherd," and "Abide With Me." A favourite hymn of Mr. MacDonald's "My Saviour Be Thou Near Me," was rendered by the choir. Beautiful flowers, covering the casket, from relatives and friends, bore silent! testimony to the affection and esteem in which the deceased was held.
