Roger Kent Allen, age 86 of Resaca, passed away on Friday, April 21st at his residence surrounded by his loving family and his beloved wife of 65 years, Glenda.

Kent was born on September 17, 1936, in Loganville, GA to the late Benjamin Franklin Allen and Mattie Sadie Needham Allen. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Natalie Bates, brother, Phillip Allen.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge #224 F&AM, member and past deacon of Sugar Valley Baptist Church, active member of Gideons Society. Kent was an avid outdoorsman, loved fishing, playing softball for his church. He could absolutely fix anything and everything. Prior to retirement he was employed by Shaw Industries as the fleet services manager. Kent was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Navy Seabees as an E-6 Petty Officer First Class.

He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Kay Allen; children, Cathy Pugh and her husband Chuck of Loganville, April Allen of Dalton; grandchildren, Rachel Wilson, Robin Joiner and her husband Ryan, and Julia Pugh; great-grandchildren, Aiden Pierce, Easton Wilson, Nate Joiner, Addie Bates and Annie Bates. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, April 24th at 1 PM from Sugar Valley Baptist Church with Reverend Mitch Phillips and Ryan Joiner officiating. Burial will be conducted on Tuesday, April 25th at Corinth Christian Church, 1635 Hwy 81, Loganville, GA, with Navy Honors.
