Born on September 2, 1939 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late George and Ida (Scharf) Slade.
On January 1, he married Cheryl D. Hawley Husted. She survives.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He had worked as an over the road truck driver for 31 years and was affectionately known as "Hit and Run"
Robert was a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Sandy Hose Company #1 Fireman's Club and the Sykesville Eagles and was an avid collector of classic cars.
He was the founder if Keep It Sinple in Louisville, Ky, and half-way house for people struggling with addictions, and had done volunteer work at Home of the Innocent, and organization that catered to abused children, also in Louisville, Ky.
Robert is survived by his children, Robert Slade Jr. of Louisville, Ky, Melissa Slade, Christina Slace and Mark Slade all of Elmyra, NY, step children, Clark Husted of DuBois, Pa., and Tracy Denison of Daytona Beach, Fl.; one sister, Carol Pagio of Clermont, Fl.
He was preceded in death by one son,, Fran Slade, one brother, George Slade and one sister, Elaine Smith.
Friends will bereceived on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Lakeside United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. from the church with Pastor Peggy Senior officiating.
Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery.
