He married Anna Burkholder and fathered Mary (b. 06/21/68 - married Augustus H. Gerdes). He lived at least part of his post-war life in Steelton, Dauphin County, but died at his home near Oberlin. According to his obituary in the Harrisburg Telegraph, he was fifty-four years of age.
