Hurrell was born in Burlington, N.C. on January 5, 1950, a daughter of the late James Hurley Bowes Sr. and Mary Cornelia Bush. She lived most of her life in Caswell County. She was owner and operator of Hurrell's Curls and Cuts. She began her property management career and soon adopted her residents as family at Lakeside Apartments in Burlington. Once retired, she remained in contact with some of her beloved residents. She was a devout member of a nondenominational faith. Hurrell loved the Lord and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Hurrell is survived by her husband, Jerry Donald Wilson of the residence, three sons, Michael Wilson (Dovie) of Elon, N.C., Jerry Wilson (Emy) of Reidsville, N.C. and J.D. Wilson, II (Jessica) of Roxboro, N.C., two daughters, Angel Wilson (Mike) of Reidsville, N.C. and Shandelyn Wrenn (Kristopher) of Reidsville, N.C., twenty grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a brother, James Bowes (Traci) of Burlington, N.C., and extended family, Leonardo Torres (Erica) and Bobby Bowman. She was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Bowes and Elgie Bowes.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Beulah Baptist Church, 1834 NC Hwy 158 East, Yanceyville, N.C. 27379 by Reverend Steve Hinton. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 12:30 – 2:00 PM and at other times they will be at the residence.
