Edward E. James, a long time resident of Dryden, Michigan, died on April 17, 2023 at the age of 84.

Ed was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on March 25, 1939, the son of Neil and Irene (Bertrand) James and was a graduate of Oxford High School and veteran of the U.S. Navy. Following his military service he began his career as a test driver at the Ford Proving Ground in Romeo, Michigan. It was at the Proving Ground that he met Lorraine Bartle. They fell in love and married on May 28, 1982 in Drayton Plains and made their home in Dryden. Together they enjoyed camping and travel and especially trips to Florida and North Carolina in the winters. At home, he enjoyed reading, especially Westerns, and riding his lawn mower.

In addition to Lorraine, his beloved wife of over forty years, he is survived by his daughter, Vernetta (Jim) Lipka; grandchildren, Stanley James Mersino III (Dan VanWingerden) and Trenton Oliver Mersino; siblings, Bruce, Don and Doug Robertson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Red, and siblings, Chuck (Ellie) James, Joy Robertson, and Bill (Jean) Robertson.

A Graveside Service will be held at Marion Township Cemetery on Thursday, April 20, at 2PM. Memorials may be made in Ed's name to the American Cancer Society. For further information please phone McGeehan Funeral Homes, Martin Chapel, Chesaning, at 989-845-3420.
