Irene M. (Gareau) Sullivan, 88, of West Union Street, died Thursday in a local nursing home. Born in Huntington, she was a communicant of St. Thomas Church in that town and moved to Pittsfield three years ago. Her husband, Harold W. Sullivan, died in 1964. She leaves two sons, Robert of Springfield and William of Westfield; four daughters, Margaret Sullivan and Joan Rich, both of Pittsfield, Gloria Miller of Russell and Elizabeth Sullivan of Westfield; a brother, Harry Gareau of Huntington; a sister, Anna Gareau of Willimantic, Conn.; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. A son, Harold, and a daughter, Catherine Sullivan, predeceased her. The funeral will be Saturday morning at O'Brien Hilltown Community Funeral Home and the church, with burial in the church cemetery, all in Huntington.
