Glenn Eugene Bilyeu, 75, rural Newkirk resident, died early Friday morning, July 2, 2004, at Via Christi Oklahoma Regional Medical Center, Ponca City. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Miller-Stahl Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark Fry, minister of Calvary Chapel, Arkansas City, officiating. Interment was in Riverview Cemetery, Arkansas City.

Born Nov. 19, 1928, in Stillwater, Okla., he was the son of Vern Douglas and Eunice Jeanette (Haskett) Bilyeu. He drove a freight transport truck for Santa Fe Trailways and retired from the trucking industry in 1985.

Survivors include his wife, Melba Marie (Work) Bilyeu of the home; two sons, Richard of Arkansas City, and Jack of Joplin, Mo.; one daughter, Glenda Thurber of Arkansas City; one brother, Jesse of Arkansas City; three sisters, Laverna, and Letha, both of Farmington, N.M., and Lois of Austin, Texas; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two sons, Billy and Roger; his parents, and one brother, Ernest.
