Nancy Savannah Gaddy Hollifield, 92, of Marion, passed away peacefully at Burke County Hospice and Palliative Care in Valdese on February 18, 2011. Mrs. Hollifield was born in Mitchell County April 28, 1918 to the late Woodfin and Eliza Woody Gaddy. Nancy was retired from Southern Devices and was a member of Turkey Cove Baptist Church. She enjoyed very much her time spent as a foster grandparent for 12 years at Pleasant Gardens School. She also made her home at Blue Ridge Terrace for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Homer Harlee and second husband, Gary Hollifield; Hassie Williams and Martha Hester, sisters; Jamie Kyle Harlee, grandson; Jimmy Hollifield, step-son; Lindy Moss, Molly Austin, and Maggie Dockery, half sisters; Nick, Henry, Jimmy and Charlie Gaddy, half-brothers. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Deeply saddened by this loss are Donald Harlee, son and wife, Mary; Elaine Workman, daughter and husband Terry; Mary Abernathy, daughter and husband, Jerry Huskins; Jo Ann Chapman, daughter and husband, Robey; Bobby Hollifield, step-son and wife, Sherrie; Johnny Hollifield, step-son and wife, Judy; Mary Louise Owensby, stepdaughter and husband, Joe; Brett Chapman, Bart Chapman, Brooke Puett, Dusty Caldwell, Chris Abernathy, Brandy Morrow, Daniel Stanley, Brittney Stanley and Garrett Stanley, grandchildren; six step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews; Joyce Patton, special care giver.

A funeral service will be held on Monday February 21, 2011 at 3 p.m. in Westmoreland Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Milton Hollifield and Alan Sailors officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in McDowell Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Burke, 1721 Enon Road, Valdese 28690
