On April 8, 2023, August T. DiGirolamo passed away peacefully surrounded by family. August was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis DiGirolamo (née Serra), devoted father of Joseph (Kathy) DiGirolamo, James DiGirolamo, Donna (Brian) DiNardo, Letty DiGirolamo (John Stuckert), John DiGirolamo (Gail Godwin), dear brother to Domenic (Patricia) DiGirolamo, and a loving grandfather of Anna, Sarah, and Violette DiGirolamo. August is predeceased by his parents Dominic and Anna DiGirolamo (née Trivoli) and his siblings, Santino, Santino Nancy, Carlo, Philip, Lucia, Vincent and Lorenzo.

August was born in 1929 in Weirton, West Virginia. August attended Saint Paul's School, was an altar server for Saint Paul's Church, worked at B & C Market and on the Pennsylvania Railroad. August graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1947. After High School, August joined the Navy where he graduated in the top 10 of Electronics School, was given his choice of ship assignments and chose the USS Salem (139). August served 4 years and 3 days with the Navy. In 1956 he graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Post graduation he worked for Hughes Aircraft for a brief time and then made a lifetime career at Weirton Steel until retirement.

A Memorial Service is being held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Paul's Catholic Cemetery, 104 South 24th Street, Weirton, WV 26062.
