Betty P. Wilson (G.G.), 77, died Thursday (Aug. 8, 2002) at Kansas Christian Home.

She was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Newton to George Sr. and Nellie (Ragland) Warhurst. Her parents preceded her in death. She married Clarence V. Bixler Sept. 11, 1945. He preceded her in death May 26, 1968. She married Earl E. Wilson Oct. 17, 1968, in Miami, Okla. He survives of the home.

She was a retired Hay & Forage Industries machinist. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and former member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a bingo fan. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband.

Other survivors include: a son, Clarence "Butch" Bixler of Coweta, Okla.; two daughters, Donna Gingerich and Phyllis Smith, both of Newton; a brother, Louis (Jack) Warhurst of Chanute; five sisters, Pearl Usher of La Mirada, Calif., Rosalee Moss of Huntsville, Ala., Velma Walker of Newton, Bonnie Montgomery of Newton and Joan Anderson of Coca, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by: a brother, George Warhurst Jr.; and three sisters, Elizabeth Adkins, Georgia Blair and Viola Hood.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Petersen Funeral Home with The Rev. Michael Keating of the First United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at the funeral home. Family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established with Kansas State University's Center for Basic Cancer Research in care of the funeral home.
