In 1880, Juretta was living with her brother, John W. McClain, in Washington Township, Hendricks County, Indiana. The 74-year-old mother, Jane, who was born in Virginia, was also living with them. Juretta was reported in the census record as a 33 year old born in Indiana.

In 1900, Juretta was still in Washington Township, but in her own home. However, she had a divorced niece, Mary Spicklemire, who along with Mary's daughter, Juretta, was living with her. All three were listed in the census as follows: Juretta B McClain, head, born January 1845 in Indiana, farmer; Mary C Spicklemire, niece, born February 1861 in Indiana; Juretta A. Spicklemire, great-niece, born August 1891 in Indiana.

In 1910, Juretta still had her niece and great-niece living with her, but Mary was remarried and was recorded as Carrie Hollingsworth and her great-niece was recorded as Etta Spicklemire.

By 1920, the three of them had moved to Center Township. Her niece, Mary, was widowed and was again reported as Mary Spicklemire.

In 1930, the three of them were living in Franklin Township.
