Mrs. Auverne McGinnis of Douglasville died on April 7, 2023. Mrs. McGinnis is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce McGinnis; Melanie and William H. Stiteler and Marcie Kilgore; sisters, Gwen Smith and Auvis Paradise; grandchildren, Heather Gipson, Daniel Young, Hunter Shelnutt, Emmaline Shelnutt, Evan Kilgore and Garrett Kilgore; great grandchildren, Marshall Crutchfield, Luke Gipson, Raylan Kilgore, Paislee Kilgore, Emery Young and Avery Young. Mrs McGinnis is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Fred McGinnis and her son Barry; Father and Mother, Roy and Sue Smith; sisters, Tina Green and Meryl Campbell; brother Rev. Queon P. Smith. She is survived by 40+ foster children whom she lovingly cared for throughout her life. Family, crafts, and camping were her joys. Auverne enjoyed membership in Homemaker Club (50+ years), The United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the Revolution, Old Campbell County Historical Society, and her beloved church, Campbellton United Methodist Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 2 o'clock at the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with private (family) interment at Holly Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Parrott Funeral from 12 o'clock until service time.
