David Thomas Barnett of Owasso, Oklahoma, passed peacefully into Heaven on February 25, 2018, surrounded by family and by love.

He was born on April 12, 1930 in Paris, Arkansas to Tessie (Rumsey) and Barney Barnett. He moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma as a child.

David was proud to have served in the United States Air Force and later made a career in the commercial heat and air business. In that line of work, he provided heat and air service to many Las Vegas hotels and he spent much of his adult life in the Vegas area. During the 1980s, he returned to Oklahoma to be near his father and sister, and it was there that he met his second wife and the love of his life, Suella (Todd) Barnett. They married in 1986 and were blessed with happiness until his death.

David loved camping with Suella in their RV and enjoyed vacations at many of the lakes and parks in the area; his favorite was Devil's Den. He was a member of Moose Lodge #862 in Tulsa and that chapter's Moose Travelers. Together with Suella, he loved to dance and they took multiple dance classes. He was also an avid home craftsman and spent much of his time remodeling and improving the home that they shared in Owasso.

David is survived by two beloved stepdaughters from his first marriage, Carolyn (Jack) Wilhelmy and Mary (Mark) Baldwin and his sons, Phillip and Thomas Barnett. He also leaves behind his cherished stepchildren from his marriage to Suella: Stephanie (James) Meissen, Christopher (Jennifer) Griffith and Amanda Holland. Other family members mourning his loss include sister-in-law Bonnie Barnett and brother-in-law Stanley Rowley, multiple grandchildren, two great-grandsons, nieces and nephews and his treasured church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings Barney Barnett, Percy Barnett and Nell Ruth Rowley.

A service to celebrate his homecoming will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 1 pm at First Presbyterian Church in Owasso, officiated by Reverend Natalie Bell. Those wishing to honor David's memory are invited to donate to First Presbyterian Church or to the American Alzheimer's Association.

Condolences may be posted to the guestbook located on this page. Photographs and Life Stories may also be posted to this online memorial.
