Professional Wrestler. His career started in 1988 after training under The Fabulous Moolah in his native state of South Carolina when his college football days were over. After completing his training with The Fabulous Moolah, he went to work in Minneapolis for Verne Gagne's American Wrestling Association (AWA) as "The Trooper" He & DJ Peterson were the last AWA World Tag Team Champions, and shortly after the AWA folded for good went to the Global Wrestling Federation (GWF) when he became "The Patriot." He joined Giant Baba's All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) in 1992, where his most significant career success occurred. In AJPW, he formed a tag team with The Eagle (Jackie Fulton/George Hines), capturing the All Asia Tag Team Championships from March 1993 until September. While still working for AJPW, he also worked for World Championship Wrestling (WCW). He formed a tag team with Marcus Bagwell known as Stars & Stripes and had succeeded in capturing the WCW Tag Titles twice before leaving in mid-1995. Once again, he became a full-time regular for AJPW & by his final year there; he formed a stable with Kenta Kobashi & Johnny Ace known as GET (Genetic, Energetic & Tough) before joining the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1997. In his WWF tenure, he was featured in a heated rivalry with Bret "Hitman" Hart as part of the USA vs. Canada feud that lasted until Hart's departure in November of 1997 & the end of Wilkes' wrestling career.
