Velma "Kathleen" Ballentine, 91, Prairie Village, KS, better known as "Mimi" to her grandchildren passed away peacefully on August 27. Born in 1926, she grew up in KC, MO and was the daughter of the late Merrel and Amma Cross. Velma attended UMKC where she met the love of her life, Lawrence "Larry" Ballentine. They married in 1946 and had a son and daughter. Larry and Velma enjoyed their life in Prairie Village with friends and family. They enjoyed dancing to Big Band Music, road trips, long walks, and spending time working in their yard. The grandchildren were blessed to live in the same neighborhood, thus making many fond memories with Mimi and Papa. Memorial service will be held at The Village Presbyterian Church Friday September 7, at 11:00 am. (Mission rd. and 67 th St.).
