Eason (or Easom) Jackson Bond was the youngest child of Joseph Ballenger Bond, Jr., and his wife Sarah Baker. On 30 Dec 1860, he married Mary Eveline Nail, daughter of J. S. Nail and Devorah Edmonson. The couple had six children: Atticus Yarbrough, George Robert, Ira A., William Asbury, Anna D. (died young), and Joseph Bryan.

According to a memoir about him written by F. A. Ragsdale in July 1893, Eason's chief occupation was farming, yet he did some work in shoemaking and carpentry, and he also had a general store. Eason served several years as a justice of the peace and was chairman of the board of county commissioners. At Rock Chapel Methodist Church, he was a very active member. He taught classes, served as Sunday school superintendent, and was a steward there for over 40 years. He loved his church and was also a strong believer in camp meetings.
