According to a memoir about him written by F. A. Ragsdale in July 1893, Eason's chief occupation was farming, yet he did some work in shoemaking and carpentry, and he also had a general store. Eason served several years as a justice of the peace and was chairman of the board of county commissioners. At Rock Chapel Methodist Church, he was a very active member. He taught classes, served as Sunday school superintendent, and was a steward there for over 40 years. He loved his church and was also a strong believer in camp meetings.
