SEARCHING FOR ANYONE THAT IS RELATED TO OR KNEW MY UNCLE REX AFTER HE LEFT BLACKFOOT, IDAHO. CONTACT THE SUNFLOWER LADY.

Nathan Rex Duckworth or also known as Rex Nathan Duckworth. He was called Rex so must have reversed it after he left home.

His beginning in life
Contributed By Sharon Haws Jewkes (niece)

To set the stage: James and Elizabeth Duckworth adopted four children, Rex being the last. Muriel was adopted in 1907 as an infant when her mother died leaving a large family. Muriel's father couldn't take care of her so she was adopted by the Duckworths. Roxie was adopted in 1913 when she was just turning 11. Her mother died when she was six leaving also two boys ages 4 and 2. Roxie's father felt she needed a mother to teach her the art of womanhood so allowed Duckworths to adopt her. A third baby, James Hanson Duckworth, was adopted in 1915. Roxie wanted to take charge of him as she was at the age of liking dolls and he was a real live one. In 1917 Rex was adopted. Roxie wrote a book of her life story. These are a few things she recorded about Rex.

(Excerpt from "One Grain of Sand", an autobiography by Roxie Estella Jensen Duckworth Haws, part of Chapter 23, p. 50.)
"About this time Father and Mother made another trip to Boise. They brought back a little blonde, curly-headed baby boy. He was just three weeks old. They named him Nathan Rex. He was blessed with an excellent pair of lungs and a smile that could melt your heart. As soon as Muriel took one look at him, she exclaimed, "Now look, this one is mine. Roxie, you had Jimmy for your baby and now I don't want you to do anything for this one. I want him for me." She owned him right from the start. I didn't seem to object because I wasn't interested in babies any more. I was interested in my boy friends. She could have him as far as I was concerned. Rex was a beautiful baby and because Muriel tended to him like I did Jimmy, I do not have in my mind any particular things of interest that connected him with my life's story, so that is the reason I have written so little about Rex."

There are also short comments about Rex throughout her book. He seemed to get in trouble quite a bit as a youth. I remember of meeting him only a couple of times in my life when he came to visit my mother (Roxie) and our family when we lived in Idaho Falls. He was a very handsome man and pleasant to be around. He would scoop me up in his arms and toss me in the air. I was between 5-7 years old at that time, but never saw him after that as he moved to the west coast.

I have been searching to find more about him. I found this memorial on Find A Grave and it has been transferred to me so that I can add what I find about him. His name is listed here as Rex Nathan Duckworth. He could have reversed his name later as he was called Rex. The following are facts that I have found about him.
