Mary Catherine Cashour, 85, died peacefully in her sleep on April 2, 2023 at the Somerford House and Place Frederick, under the care of Hospice, from complications of Vascular Dementia/Alzheimer's disease.

Mary was born in Knoxville MD on June 4, 1937 to the late Ralph and Mildred (Tritapoe) Fawley.

Mary was a 1955 graduate of Middletown High school and worked for the Maryland State Highway Administration in Frederick, full time for 43 years, retiring in 1998 as an Administrative Assistant to the District Engineer. Mary worked part time at the Bon Ton clothing store for 12 years until they closed in 2011.

Mary volunteered for the Frederick Health Hospital, working in their gift shop, and later in their downtown Select Seconds thrift store. She also enjoyed volunteering for the numerous events at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick.

During her early years she enjoyed family trips to the beach, her home, knitting, crocheting and gardening. She always had beautiful flower gardens and was particularly fond of pink roses. She loved birds, her favorite being the Cardinal. Her and late husband Charles (Bubby) loved dancing at the various night clubs in Frederick County.

Mary was very active with her Church, Centennial Memorial United Methodist in Frederick where she served as Treasurer. She loved music and enjoyed the Christmas and Easter Holiday services. Mary loved the Great Frederick Fair and volunteered every year to take in exhibits. She entered several of her hand knitted children's sweaters and won numerous ribbons. After retiring from full time work, Mary enjoyed traveling the USA and the world. She and her husband Ed took frequent trips, and had been to every state except for three. Some of her favorite places were Alaska, Hawaii, Mount Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, and France, Italy, China, Russia and Ireland.

A breast cancer survivor, Mary was into physical activities such as walking, line dancing, and exercise classes. She also enjoyed the many antique estate auctions held at the Frederick Fair grounds on Saturdays.

Mary was a very kind, loving, caring, and generous spouse, mother, great-grandmother, aunt and a sweet thoughtful person to everyone she met. She was a genuine friend to many!
