She was united in marriage to George Casto and to this union eight children were born. She also raised one step-daughter, Jane Heath of Reece, and one granddaughter, Bertha, who resides in Wichita.
Mrs. Casto was the youngest of eleven children, all of whom have preceded her in death, except one brother, Daniel W. Thornton who lives in Eureka.
Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Casto has loved with her children, almost all of whom live in and near Greenwood County. She lost her eyesight sixteen years ago and has been an invalid since that time. She was a devoted mother and never was too tired to do something for her family, always ready to sacrifice and share what she had with others. No one was ever turned away from her door.
The children who are left to mourn this loving mother's death are; Cora May Old of Eureka; Charles Casto, address unknown; Emma Smith of Reece; Lannie Poe of Eureka; Amy Stought of Wichita; Nellie Land of Reece; Lucy McDaniel Graybill of Illinois; Max Casto of Wichita. She also leaves a host of friends, who have only kind words and loving thoughts of her.
The funeral service, conducted by Rev. R.E. Gaston, was held from the Baird Funeral Home in Eureka, November 28, at 3:00 p.m. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
