SAN LUIS OBISPO -

At his request, no services will be held for Earl Fredrick Howerton, 65, of Morro Bay, who died Saturday in a San Luis Obispo hospital. Cremation has taken place, under the direction of Reis Chapel.

Mr. Howerton was born, reared and educated in Lompoc. He graduated from Lompoc High School. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in New Guinea. He achieved the rank of technical sergeant 4th Class and was awarded the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

For the past 32 years, he has been a resident of the North Coast of San Luis Obispo County. He was employed for several years by the Hearst Warehouses, and also worked as a bartender in Cambria, Cayucos, Morro Bay and Lompoc. He was an avid sports fan, hunter and fisherman, and was interested in woodworking.

Survivors include his son, Eddie Howerton, San Luis Obispo; daughter, Sandy Green, Cambria; brothers, Stan and Matt Howerton, both of Lompoc; granddaughters, Loree Martin and Cheryl Green, both of Cambria, and Brandy Howerton, Ukiah; great granddaughter, Nicole Martin, Cambria.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1124-B Nipomo St., San Luis Obispo, 93401.
