Herbert was the son of Evander B. "Van" Anderson and Harriet Elizabeth Hulce. He married Dorothy Cook on 27 Aug 1938. He served in the US Army in World War II. Herbert was a foreman for the shipping and receiving division of Hauske-Harlan Manufacturing until his retirment in 1984. He was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church. He was Past Master or the Peru-Miami Lodge #67 F & A M, and was an ambassador tot he Grand Masonic Lodge of Western Australia in 1972.
