Dr. Adrian Keith Johnson, 94, and Leona Marie Johnson, 93, of Overland Park, KS, formerly of Macomb, IL, and Hot Springs Village, AR, passed away of natural causes on Monday, January 30, 2023, and Saturday, February 25, 2023, respectively, at their residence.

Adrian, affectionately known as "Daidy" by family and "Doc" by his friends, was born on June 17, 1928, in Chillicothe, IL, to Turner Gymer and Esther Amelia Krantz Johnson. Marie was born on July 1, 1929, in Youngstown, IL, to Harlan and Elizabeth Gayle Johnson Day. The two were high school sweethearts, marrying on May 30, 1948.

They are survived by two daughters, Peggy of Prairie Village, KS, and Annette (Mark) Marty of Oakley, CA. Marie is survived by her sister, Vivian Worsfold of Covington, IN.

They were preceded in death by their parents; daughter, Sandra Cox; and son, Danton Johnson. Adrian was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Edna Callahan Johnson; brother, Merle C. Johnson; sister, Elaine Brown; Marie was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Georgia Day; sisters, Doris Howland and Esteleen Nelson; and brothers, Les and Jim Day.

Adrian and Marie attended Chillicothe HS, where he excelled in many sports for the Grey Ghosts, and she rooted him on as a cheerleader. After graduating, Marie trained and briefly worked as a "beauty operator" in Peoria, IL, while Adrian proudly served in the U.S. Army. He achieved the rank of Sgt. First Class and was honorably discharged at the end of the Korean War.

After Adrian returned from the Korean War, Marie helped support their growing family as an executive secretary at General American Life in St. Louis and proudly received a PHTS (Pushing Hubby Through School) degree from St. Louis University School of Dentistry. Adrian first graduated with a bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University, and later with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from St. Louis University in 1960.

In 1960, the family moved to Macomb, IL, where Adrian and Maire established his dental practice, operating for 39 years. Marie was a member of Women's Club, Business and Professional Women, Prairie Valley Dental Assistants and the McDonough District Hospital Auxiliary. She was the volunteer manager at the hospital gift shop in Macomb until they retired and moved to Hot Springs Village, AR, in 1999, where she also volunteered in the hospital gift shop there for nearly 20 years.

Adrian was a loving husband, father, soldier, avid self-taught par golfer, farmer, dentist, gardener and jack of all trades.

Marie was a loving and supportive wife, mother and friend. She enjoyed playing golf, gardening and bowling. Known by her friends as Miss Congeniality, she organized and hosted the best parties.

Interment will be at a later date at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS.
