Mrs. Maria Elizabeth Rice, wife of Milton G. Rice, passed away suddenly yesterday at her home in Jefferson, at 5 o'clock, after a short illness from heart trouble. She was the youngest daughter of the late Daniel and Ann Culler, of Jefferson. Mrs. Rice is survived by her husband and one son, Millard M. Rice, of the Citizens' National Bank, Frederick. Two brothers and one sister also survive. Rev. M. L. Culler, D.D. Boston; M. F. Culler and Mrs. C. R. Horine.
She was a consistent member of St. Paul's Lutheran church, taking an active part in all work especially missionary activities. A quiet unassuming and gentle woman, she will greatly missed and her loss keenly felt. The funeral will be held from the St. Paul's Lutheran church, Jefferson, Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Services will be conducted by Rev. Settlemyer of Middletown, a former pastor. M. R. Etchison is the funeral director.
