Martin Kelly. In Chicago, on Thursday, February 21, 1895, Mr. Martin Kelly, aged 88 years, 4 months and 2 days. Martin Kelly was born October 10, 1806 in Edwardsburg, District of Ontario, Canada. He came to Illinois and settled in Clyde Township, this county, in 1855. Later he moved to Iowa where he made his home with his son, Samuel. During July 1893, he moved to Chicago, and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Hattie A. Lovejoy of Cuyler.
Mr. Kelly had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church since he was twenty-three years of age. He lived a devoted and exemplary life, and his children rise up all called him blessed. The funeral services were held at Cuyler, Sunday, February 24 and the remains were brought to Morrison for interment, accompanied by his son, S.M. Kelly, and Mr. Lovejoy, his son-in-law. The burial services was read by Rev. J.A.J. Whipple Monday afternoon, at the Heaton Cemetery where the body was laid to rest.
