John M. Drane Jr., 95, of Newbern, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was former president of Security Bank, lifetime member of Newbern First United Methodist Church where he had served in every lay capacity, a Mason, former member of Newbern Rotary Club and Newbern Planning Commission and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with Dr. Richard Carruth officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Martha E. Drane of Newbern; a daughter, Cynthia D. Keller and husband, Dr. L.B. Keller of Osceola, Ark.; and a sister, Rebecca Westmoreland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. Drane Sr. and Lillie Wilson Drane; a sister, Laura Smitheal; and a brother, Sam Drane.

Pallbearers will be David Allen, Ben Allen, Olen Parker, Gerald Tidwell, James Hicks, Steve Moore, James Wilkerson and John Wakefield. Honorary pallbearers will be officers, directors and employees of Security Bank and members of the Men's Sunday School Class of Newbern First United Methodist Church.

Rebecca Drane Westmoreland, 91, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008 at her residence.

She was the founder and owner of Westmoreland's Apparel of Sarasota, Fla., Martha's Vineyard, Mass., Blowing Rock, N.C., and Naples, Fla., and a member of Newbern First United Methodist Church.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg with Dr. Larry Blakeburn officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at Curry Funeral Home.

Survivors include a niece, Rebecca Laine and husband, Craig, of Nashville; a nephew, Green Smitheal and wife, Missy, of Dyersburg; and special caregivers Dorothy Cole and Lori West.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Westmoreland; her parents, John M. and Lillie Wilson Drane; a sister, Laura Lee Drane Smitheal; and two brothers, Sam D. Drane and John M. Drane Jr.

Pallbearers will be Wes Smitheal, David Smitheal, Wilson Laine and Craig Laine.
