A telegram received here by Mr. Wardlaw Witherspoon Thursday afternoon announced the death of Mrs. Addie Witherspoon, of Rock Hill, widow of the late Jno. C. Witherspoon. Miss Annie Witherspoon went over yesterday to attend the funeral services.

Rock Hill, July 6 - Mrs. Addie White Witherspoon, widow of the late Capt. John C. Witherspoon, died this afternoon at 3:30 at her residence on White Street, Mrs. Witherspoon was a member of the White family, one of the most prominent of this section, and a lady who, by her lovable qualities and good deeds, was endeared to the whole community. While she has been a great sufferer from inflammatory rheumatism for some time past, her death came as a shock to the city. She died of acute pericarditis brought on by rheumatism. The departure of this devoted mother removes the head of a happy and beautiful home and leaves desolate her three sons, Messrs. George W.J. Crawford and James H. Witherspoon, besides a large family connection.
There is universal sympathy for all these expressed by our citizens.

Daughter of the late George P. and Mrs. Ann White. Born at the family homestead in our city, January 9th, 1847. In January 1876 she was married to John C. Whiterspoon, Esq. of Lancaster, who a few years before had removed to Rock Hill to practice law. To them were born five children, three of whom survive, viz: Geo. W. Witherspoon, J. Crawford Witherspoon and James Hutchison Witherspoon.
Yesterday afternoon the remains of the deceased was interred in the family lot in Laurelwood cemetery, funeral services being conducted at the home of the deceased by Rev. Alexander Sprunt, assisted by Rev. J.H. Thornwell.
