Loyd Isaac Penley, age 81, of Lenoir passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Caldwell UNC Health Care. He was born July 23, 1941 in Caldwell County to the late Luey Edward Penley and Sarah Barrier Penley. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Wilda Greer Penley; sons, Timothy Wayne Penley, James Penley, and Johnny Penley; three brothers, Mickey Penley, Mikey Penley, and Henry Penley; and one sister, Lona A. Bristol; daughter in-law, Amanda Reese Penley, sister in-law, Pearl Greer Penley; brother in-law, Glen Coffey, and step son in-law, Frankie Holsclaw.

Those surviving include three sons, Jimmy E. Penley of West Jefferson, Dale J. Penley of West Jefferson, and Joe L. Penley of Lenoir; one daughter, Sarah Jane Penley Osborne and husband Tracy of West Jefferson; three brothers, Terry M. Penley and wife Wanda of South Carolina, Larry E. Penley and wife Miriam of Lenoir, and Lowell G. Penley of Fleetwood; two sisters, Mary J. Coffey of Lenoir, and Lucille Triplett and husband Gary of Mapel Grove; one step-son, Bobby Greer and wife Terry Peele Greer of Fleetwood; one step-daughter, Rachel Holsclaw of Fleetwood; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Scottsville Baptist Church, 165 Old County Line Road, Laurel Springs, NC 28644. Pastor Tommy Wurth will officiate.
