"SAVANNAH, Mo. -- W. Ira Bowman, 71, died Monday afternoon while operating a farm tractor near his home in Savannah.

Mr. Bowman was born on Sept. 5, 1914, in Amazonia, Mo., and had resided in Andrew County for the past 20 years, where he was a farmer. He had been employed for 30 years with the Billhorn-Bowers-Peters Construction Company, where he was a superintendant.

He was a member of the Marvin McMurray Methodist Church, St Joseph; Masonic Lodge No. 31, Tekamah, Neb.; Mitchell Chapter No. 14, Royal Arch Masons; the St Joseph Council No. 9 Cryptic Masons, the Hugh de Paynes Commandery No. 4, Knights Templar and the High Twelve Club, all of St Joseph. He also had been past watchman of the Shepherds of the White Shrine of Jerusalem in St Joseph and was a past patron of Chapter No. 223, Order of the Eastern Star in Savannah.

Surviving are his wife, Doris Oliver Bowman of the home; one daughter, Loretta Bruns of Omaha, Neb.; one son, Raymond Bowman of Creve Coeur, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Deborah Andrews of Kansas City, Mo., and Vicky Hendrix of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two stepsons, Larry Andrews of Savannah and Bill Andrews of London, England; two brothers, Ernest L. Bowman and Edwin A. Bowman, both of Amazonia; six grandchildren; two nephews and one niece.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Breit & Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah. Burial will be in the Savannah Cemetery." St Joseph Gazette, January 14, 1986
