Jack Lee Acklin passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.

He was born August 5, 1931 in Cushing, the son of Russell and Letha (Morgan) Acklin. Jack was the chief mechanic on a B-36 Bomber during the Korean war. He experienced college life and graduated from Oklahoma State University. Jack taught American History and Government along with coaching football at Palmetto High School in South Miami, Florida. Teaching was a joy for Jack. Coaching football was a natural for him as he lettered in three sports during high school. He also became skilled in Resident Agency Duty with the FBI which gave him extensive experience in fighting the crimes of extortion, bank robbery, and kidnapping.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Bill Acklin. He is survived by his wife Neva Acklin; his children Douglas Acklin, Lorie Dobson, Jennifer Figgins, George Cunningham, Elizabeth Kinion, and their spouses; nine grandchildren; and six great -grandchildren.

Jack and Neva were both born and raised in Cushing. They attended school together but their lives took pathways away from each other. They both experienced marriage, birth of children, and careers. Neva lost two spouses before Jack re-entered her life. A friend suggested that Jack visit her in Tulsa. Jack came by to visit and didn't leave! One joy for them
has been their connection with The Tulsa Men's Club, which gave them many opportunities for close friendships, travel and ballroom dancing. Their favorite was the jitterbug! Upon their 32 year marriage, they both agree as they share this thought, "We have been blessed with wonderful children."

Arrangements have been entrusted to Christopher W. Teel of Schaudt-Teel Funeral Service at Memorial Park, 5757 S. Memorial Drive in Tulsa. A ceremony celebrating Jack's life is scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, October 26 at the funeral home with a reception following.
