Roy was married to Sylvia for 52 years. He supported his family by working as a residential milkman for 30 years and was known by his many customers throughout Oakland, Piedmont and Berkeley as "Roy the Milkman". When he retired in 1985 he was one of the last residential milkmen still delivering milk in glass bottles. He was featured in several Bay Area television reports and newspaper articles on the end of the era of home milk delivery. Roy was an avid fan of the Cal Bears football team, the San Francisco Giants, and professional golf. He was a longtime member of the Concord Men's Club at Diablo Creek Golf Course.
