Stephen Henry 'Steve' Herbst, born October 24, 1950 at Washington, Missouri, passed away in his home in Van Buren, Missouri on March 20, 2023. He was the only son of Clarence Herbst and Donna (Lacy) Harpe, both of whom preceded him in death. Steve was also preceded in death by his youngest son, Heath, in 2010 and beloved stepson Jay Simpson in 2015.

Steve married Donita J. (Barkley) Simpson, and their sons Wesley (Kristina) and Andrew (Jennifer), both of Leavenworth, Kansas, survive. Also surviving are his grandchildren Garen, Lina, Gabriel and Caleb; step grandchildren Kara and Abi; six sisters, Linda Smith, Brenda Snyder, Karen Giles, Doree Vanscoy, Denise Hartz and Tonya Long, a revered aunt, Anna Mantels, many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and acquaintances.

In May, 1986, Steve received his doctorate in Chiropractic and soon thereafter moved his family to Alaska where he established North Country Chiropractic in Fairbanks. Following his return to Missouri he settled in the southcentral part of the state where he practiced chiropractic, holistic and Chinese medicine.

Steve was a multi-talented individual; he loved the outdoors and was a talented musician. He will live on in the hearts of his large family, friends and acquaintances.
