McHENRY – James Conrad Anderson Jr., 53, of McHenry, died Friday, March 5, 2010, at Centegra Hospital – McHenry. He was born March 30, 1956, in Avon, to James C. Sr. and Eva M. (Gray) Anderson. On Nov. 1, 1975, he married Debbie L. Farragh in McHenry. A resident of McHenry for most of his life, he also lived for a time in the upper peninsula of Michigan and more recently near LaSalle for 18 months. An accomplished chef, he worked at various restaurants for several years. He later co-owned and operated Morrow's Yogurt in McHenry for two years, and during that time became active with the Golden Diners program. He continued working with the Golden Diners program for 15 years, retiring as coordinator six years ago due to health issues. He was a published poet and also enjoyed music, especially playing the guitar. He wrote songs as well as a cookbook, and was an avid NASCAR fan. A devout Christian and family man, he maintained a positive attitude despite illnesses, and he will be dearly missed by his loving family. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Debbie; a son, James C. "Guido" Anderson III of McHenry; his parents of Lakemoor; five siblings, Amanda (Michael) Barg of McHenry, Cynthia Anderson of McHenry, Michael (Trisha) Anderson of Lakemoor, Garrett (Kristine) Anderson of Wonder Lake and Mary (Bruce) Ware of Ringwood; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, the Rev. James and Marlene Farragh of Bessemer, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews. The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, at Justen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry. The visitation will continue from 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, until the service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Major Everett E. Jordan officiating.
