Wallace Van Eaton, Elder in the Community of Christ Church, born January 24th, 1922 in Vanscoy, Saskatchewan, Canada of American parents, came to Toppenish at age 16 along with two other brothers to live with his oldest sister to go to school. He moved to Yakima and graduated from Yakima High in 1941 . He enrolled at Graceland College in the fall of 1941 and 42.

In March of 1943, he enlisted in the Air Force and after training was assigned as a copilot in the B29 crew. He flew 23 missions out of Saipan over the Japanese homeland before the war ended. Wallace received the Distinguished Flying Cross, an air medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service medal with 2 Bronze Stars and a World War II Victory Medal.

He returned and graduated from Graceland (a two year college) in June 1946 and began Chiropractic College in San Antonio Texas. He met Maurine Webb at church in San Antonio and were married December 21, 1947. After graduating from Texas Chiropractic College they moved to Sedalia, Missouri where Thomas Guy, 1950-1956, and Randall Wallace, 1952, were born.

Wallace moved back to Yakima and practiced with his aunt and uncle Dr. Claire and Dr. Ben Van Eaton Chiropractors until he opened his own office. A daughter Terry Sue (now Mrs. Patrick Kraft) was born in 1954. He built a house in the West Valley area and retired from Chiropractic in 1986.

He built a hydraulic cider press and with friends involved, made over 200 gallons of cider each year for the last 15 years or so, dividing the juice among the helpers. He froze 80 gallons each year himself. He began handcrafting spinning wheels as a hobby and has built and sent over 344 wheels as far away as England, New York, Ontario, Florida, and California but mostly sold them in the Pacific Northwest.

He was preceded in death by my wife Maurine, parents, Guy and Flavel Van Eaton, and by siblings: sisters Tony Roline, Shirley Denton and Jo Bishop, brothers Bruce, Jack, and Howard. He is survived by one brother Jim in Shellbrook of Sask., his son Randy, wife Deana of Buckner, MO, daughter Terry Kraft of Yakima, WA and her family; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie Kraft and Jacob Kraft and 2 great-grandchildren, Lucas and Jack.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Keith & Keith Funeral Home. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.keithandkeith.com.
