Graveside services for Leatrice Joy Crundwell will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Bro. Paul Pryor will officiate.

Visitation will be held on Sunday with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Joy went to meet the Lord on Saturday, March 18, 2023. She was born on April 23, 1925, to John & Maude Teer Giles in Kirvin. In 1944, her brother, John Giles, was killed in the Pacific Theater of World War II. A loss she never got over. She married Lex R. Crundwell, Jr. on July 1, 1947. Tragically, Lex was killed in an auto accident on his way home from work in 1954, leaving Joy to raise two young boys. She loved her family and loved working in her yard with her flowers. The housework could go undone, but her yard would always look like a picture. Joy also loved her animals and considered them her four legged children. After her mother passed away, Joy spent many years caring for others in their homes and continued her work until age eighty-six.

She is survived by two sons, John R. Crundwell & wife Carolyn and David F. Crundwell all of Teague; three grandsons, John David Crundwell, Lex Ryder Crundwell & wife Brittany, and David Giles Crundwell & wife Janice; seven great-grandchildren, Ty, Dallas, Mason, Liam, Tyler, Reese, and Freya; other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Crundwell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one granddaughter, Virginia Ann.
