Carol Jean Sneath, 95, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, took God's hand on March 16, 2023, to stroll over heaven to be with husband, Elwood, and daughter, Linda Caudle, in God's heavenly home. She was born on a farm south of Blackwell to Roy and Lennis Wassom on August 6, 1927. Her family moved to Nardin where she attended Nardin Grade School. Following its closing, she attended Lovett Jr. High for one year and on to Blackwell High School, graduating in 1945. Immediately after graduation, she went to work in the office of Blackwell Zinc Company. She married the love of her life, Elwood Sneath, on July 27, 1946, and they moved to a farm south of Nardin. To this union, they had three children. She enjoyed being a farmer's wife, working in the fields, cooking, sewing, and raising their three children. They retired from farming and moved into Blackwell in 1993 to make their home. Carol never retired from tending to her family.
She was a lifetime member of the Nardin United Methodist Church. Carol served as a Sunday School teacher, held every office in the United Methodist Women's organization, and was a song leader for many years. Music was always a big part of her life. She sang with her sisters, Doris and Helen, as the Wassom Trio. In high school, she sang in the chorus and Triple Trio. Later in life, Carol sang with the group, The Selectones. Through the years, she participated in bowling and golf leagues. Carol and Elwood enjoyed these activities together along with square dancing. Carol volunteered at the Blackwell Hospital for many years. She was an active member of the RSVP. She also enjoyed sewing and had a successful alterations business. So many beautiful prom and party dresses left her home after hours of hand stitching on sequins, pearls, and lace. She created most of her own clothing, including covering shoes to match her dress. Her children had lovely hand sewn clothing from dresses to men's leisure suits and sport coats. Often her sewing projects necessitated a run to Wichita to get a button or zipper, and, of course, go to Doc's Supper Club to eat.
Carol was very proud of her beautiful family that she and Elwood raised together. She always enjoyed when they gathered for holidays and family events. Carol had many requested favorites to prepare in the kitchen.
She is survived by her daughter, Patty Weber of Bartlesville; a son, Larry Sneath and wife Camille of Ponca City; a son-in-law, Jim Caudle of Ponca City. She was a proud and wonderful grandmother to five grandchildren, Tim (Teri) Caudle, Stacey (Jose) Londono, Lisa (Craig) Bressman, Gavin (Tera) Sneath, and Mariah (Aaron) Laughlin; and eight great grandchildren, Berkeley Bressman, Conner Sneath, Dalton Laughlin, Adler Caudle, Ali Sneath, Jagger Laughlin, Greer Caudle and Barron Bressman.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elwood Sneath; a daughter, Linda Caudle; her parents; and two sisters, Doris Sneath and Helen Reese.
