William Michael Hinton, age 68, Albuquerque, New Mexico, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
Grieving the loss of this amazingly wonderful man are his wife of 19 years, Renee Hinton, his children, Matthew (Sheilla) Hinton, Chelsea (Jeremy) Hoyt and Ben (Katrice) Hinton, his brothers, Rick (Tammie) Hinton and Jimmy Hinton, 11 grandchildren, loving and caring in-laws and many other extended family members and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Dianne Reat, mother, Ruth Hinton and father, Gaylon Hinton.
Michael put his heart and soul into every commitment he made.
After graduating from Shelbyville High School in Texas, he joined the United States Air Force and served as an aircraft maintenance crew chief. Michael was a true asset to the Air Force as evidenced by the numerous commendation/achievement medals and certificates of appreciation he received. While stationed in England, he increased his value by graduating from the Noncommissioned Officer Leadership School.
Retiring from the United States Air Force in 1994, he went on to work for Homeland Security until 2016. Fully retired he got a kick out of spending time with his wife, family and friends, caring for a menagerie of pets, and boisterously cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros. To his wife's delight, he completed many tough and time-consuming home improvement projects during his retired years.
Matt, Chelsea and Ben were huge sources of pride and happiness for Michael. Michael enjoyed being their dad and treasured their love of him. The successes in their personal lives filled him with contentment. Even though they were separated by a couple thousand miles, pictures and updates allowed him to stay close to his kids and grandkids.
Michael enriched the lives of every person he encountered. With his kindness, gentleness and dry wit, he was a joy to behold. His generous nature consistently put the needs of others before his own.
Diagnosed with glioblastoma in 2021, he stayed in good humor and fought the valiant fight until God called him home and relieved him of his earthly discomfort. Michael will be sorrowfully missed and preciously remembered by all who knew him.
We have much appreciation for his extensive support team consisting of loving and precious family and friends. A special heartfelt thank you goes to the McLaughlin family for their numerous cheerful and uplifting visits during the course of Michael's illness. Michael was so thankful for their care and friendship.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary - Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM.
