Annie Mathis Gaines, 82, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, December 23, at the Lynn Haven Nursing Home in Gray.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Wednesday, December 27, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. John K. Mobley officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Gaines was born November 27, 1924, in Fitzgerald to the late John T. and Cornelia Forehand Mathis. She was a 1940 graduate of Fitzgerald High School.
Mrs. Gaines was associated with Sears & Roebuck Catalogue Stores in Fitzgerald and Waynesville, Georgia. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and the Christian Motorcycle Association.
Mrs. Gaines is survived by two sons: Morris B. (Tina) Gaines of Tifton and Monroe M. (Kathryn) Gaines of Macon; one daughter: Sylvia Anne (Marlin) Yawn of Versailles, Kentucky; three grandchildren: Tiffany Lee Murray of Tampa, FL, Robert Lamar Gaines of Fitzgerald, and Anna Kate Busbin of Fitzgerald; two great-grandchildren; Phillip Murray and Cayden Murray; and one sister: Amanda G. Sports of Waycross. She was preceded in death by her husband: Morris Benjamin Gaines, one grandson: Darrien Gaines, four brothers and one sister.
