MRS. DANIEL H. O'NEAL.

Mattie Casteen was born in Versailles, Ill., August 3, 1872 and died in Jacksonville, Ill., January 7, 1904. She was married to Daniel H. O'Neal January 18, 1900. Having been reared in this city, she was well known to all and her life was characterized by a gentle kindly spirit and a beautiful personality. A number of years of her life were spent in school teaching in this county. In whatever walk of life her paths led she was always found true to the highest ideal of noble Christian womanhood. Deceased united with the M. E. church in Versailles in January 1896. While living here she was closely identified with the interests of the Epworth League and Sunday school. During the past months she has been a great sufferer and on January 7, quietly passed away at the home of her parents, Joseph Casteen and wife of Jacksonville. She is survived by her husband and one son, Francis, aged two years, her parents, one sister and two brothers.

Funeral services were held in M. E. church in Versailles, January 9 at 2:30 p. m., conducted by Rev. A. J. Ives. The following friends and schoolmates of the deceased acted as pall bearers: A. O. McCoy, F. F. Timmons, J. Howard Robinson, Geo. M. Peters, J. Edd Heflin, C. B. Timmons.
