Elijah appears in the 1850 census in SC, and in the 1860 census in Cass County (now Bartow Co.) GA. The 1860 census list his youngest son ("0" yrs) as born in Georgia and the next older son (2 yrs old) was born in SC. Therefore, Elijah moved his family to GA after 1858 and before 1860. This census also shows his second born son was named Francis J Bobo (age 4 yrs at that time). But this person shows up in no further census, therefore must have died before age 14 (burial place unknown). The 1870 Census shows Elijah and family in Cherokee County, GA. Church records mentioned below indicate they moved to Cherokee Co. in or before 1865.

The 1860 census shows Elijah's name spelled Elija M Bobo.(source: "United States Census, 1860", database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MZMZ-4R4 : accessed 24 February 2016), Elija M Bobo, 1860.) The 1870 Census spells the name Elijah, as it should be.

Also, death notice of William Pinkney Bobo list Elijah as the father, but spells it "Eligah" (source: "Georgia Deaths, 1928-1939", database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QJXM-LLKY : accessed 24 February 2016), Eligah Bobo in entry for W Pink Bobo, 1933.)

There are several Confederate Military records for Elisha M Bobo, but no other records, census or otherwise, exists for Elisha M Bobo. Therefore, it is reasonable to surmise a misspelling of the name, and that these military records are for Elijah Monroe Bobo.
