She was born in Tannehill, OK, and was the daughter of James Monroe and Zula Ford Green. She married Jim Painter in December of 1938. She was a member and past Noble Grand of Rebekah Lodge No. 344 in McAlester. She was also an active member of the First Baptist Church in McAlester and served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was mother of Stella Thompson and step mother of Ann Shearrer, Virgil Painter and Jack Painter.
