John Loven, 85, passed away Saturday evening, Sept. 4, at his home in Waukon. He had been in failing health for some time. John Loven, son of Aslag & Anna Loven, was born Nov. 2, 1962 in Sogn, Norway. When but a child, he came to America with his parents & sister.
In 1888 he was united in marriage to [Bertha]Mary Lystad. They made their home in Glenwood township until four years ago when they moved to Waukon. His wife preceded him in death five months ago.
The following children are left to mourn: Carl of St. Louis, MO; Mrs. Alfred Rosendahl (Violet) of Canoe Township; Mrs. Anga Saak, Roy, Melvin, & Julius, of Waukon; Albert & Henry of Glenwood. 1 daughter died in infancy. He also leaves 1 sister, Mrs. Sigrid Erickon, of Glenwood township, & 1 brother, Ole, of Decorah.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Sep 7, at 1 at his home 2:00 at the Glenwood Lutheran Church, with burial in the Glenwood Cemetery. The pallbearers were his six sons. Rev. Bredesen officiated at the funeral, assisted by Rev. M. Hendrickson.


John & Bertha had 9 children together: Albert Herman (1887-1972), Adolph Melvin (1888-1961), Henry Rudolph (1890-1981), Anga Cornelia (1892-93), Carl Alfred (1893-1972), Julius Bernard (1895-1967), Anga Cornelia Minerva (1897-1984), Hannah Violeta "Violet" (1899-2001), & Roy Philip (1903-2000)
