Mrs. Roy L. Bland, 83, died at 6 a. m. today at her home on Magnolia street, Alexandria Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday in Hixson Bros. Funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Bland, a native of Ocean Springs, Miss., had been active in church work at Emmanuel Baptist church until a few years ago. She was the former Mamie Edwina Davis, daughter of the late George W. and Margaret Bradford Davis of Ocean Springs.

Mrs. Bland moved to Alexandria with her husband in 1918. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last November.

Her husband is a retired railroad man and after his retirement served for years as chief clerk of the local draft board.

She is survived by three sons, Lamar and Tyler H. Bland of Alexandria, and Davis Bland of Shreveport; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret McConathy of Alexandria; four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
