He was born Oct. 10, 1937, in Fairmont, a son of the late Lawrence Jason and Julia Ball Gwynn.
He was a Fairmont Senior High School graduate. He attended the Randolph Macon Academy of Front Royal, VA, and Fairmont State College.
He formerly owned and operated Dave's Drive-In Restaurant on Route 250 South, Fairmont.
He was the manager of Green Grove Apartments in Danville, VA. He served on the boards of the Piedmont Motel Association of Virginia; and the retail merchants association of the Ballou Park Shopping Center in Danville.
He had formerly worked as manager of the Greenway Motel in Danville He was also the former owner and operator of the Little Pigs of America Restaurant in Danville. While in Fairmont, he was a member of the BPOE Lodge No. 294 in Fairmont.
He was a Baptist.
Survivors include two sons, David Marshall Gwynn of Parkersburg and Howard Jason Gwynn of Fairmont; two daughters, Sue McDonald of Atlanta, GA, and Beth Watkins of Fairmont; and a sister Diane Gwynn Gladden of Wheeling.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Matthew Gwynn, Brandi Gwynn, Jason Gwynn, Michael Watkins, Ashley Gwynn and Troy Watkins.
Services will be Saturday June 7, at 2 p.m., at the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, with the Rev. Thomas Johnson officiating.
Friends my call at the funeral home from noon-2 p.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
