Annie Compton
Mrs. Annie Compton, age 95, died February 4, 2008 in Colorado City. Graveside services were held Wednesday in the Colorado City Cemetery with Rev. Matt Matlock officiating.
Mrs. Compton was born on July 2, 1912, in Franklin County to William Frank Grimes and Pinky May Grimes and been a longtime resident of Mitchell County. She married Mr. James Compton on August 14, 1954, in Lovington, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Baker in 1946; second husband Jake Compton in December 2007 and son, J. N. Baker in 1999.
Survivors include her daughter, Annie Lee Bennett of Terrell; sons, Tommy Baker and wife, Nina of Colorado City and Jimmy Compton of Big Spring; 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
