Irene M. (Teske) Korth - Marquardt
November 29, 1920 ~ March 10, 2023

Irene M. Korth-Marquardt, born November 29, 1920, was carried to her Heavenly home on Friday March 10, 2023. Irene lived by her faith

"Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
Protect the bed I lie on
Four corners has my bed:
Four angels fly ov'er my head.
One watching: one to wait:
Another one to pray;
And then the final one
To bear my soul away."

Irene's parents were William & Elsie Teske of Belle Plaine. She married Silas W. Korth in 1940 and they lived on their farm in the Township of Pella, Hwy D. They loved their retirement home at Shawano Lake where many hours were spent fishing, working on flower beds, and traveling.

They were blessed with 5 children: Silas Jr. (deceased), Bill (Margaret), Joy (Dennis) Krubsack, Curt (Carol), and Jan (Darrell) Ruege. Irene's family blessings grew to 65 descendants: 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Irene later married Robert H. Marquardt in 1990 and gained and even larger family including her 6 step-children.

When Irene was asked how she grew to be 102+ years old, she said her secret to living is keeping busy with a purpose. She worked hard to volunteer often and cared for family and friends. She said keeping the body and mind active is essential and attended ALL Bible classes at her Asters home and kept busy with as many crafts and games as possible. In addition, Irene earned a Seniors Fitness Presidential Award for her weekly exercise programs. Irene loved to keep her hands and heart working with and for others. Lastly, Irene faithfully believed in her Lord as, "Not my will but Thy will be done; and this I ask for Jesus sake, again & again & again."

Our heartfelt thanks must be shared to the staff and residents of her Asters Community, Clintonville, to the hospice staff who cared for Irene in her final days, her Bible class partners and Pastor Jerabek of Pella Opening Church.

Irene's funeral service will be held Friday March 24, 2023 at 11am at St. Peters Lutheran Church Pella Opening with Rev. Todd Jerabek officiating. Interment will take place at the church cemetery later in spring. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider St. Peters Pella Opening Church or a charitable donation to a worthy cause which helps other people. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory of Clintonville is assisting her family. www.eberhardtstevenson.com
